Every success animation, comes a sequel

Synopsis: Dracula opens Hotel Transylvania for humans yet another conflict arises in that hotel. Mavis, Dracula’s daughter gave birth to a son named Dennis. Dennis did not show signs of being a vampire and makes dracula worry.

Overall, the story of the hotel transylvania not too good. Too much humor and making this film boring. This movie has repeated joke that is not funny anymore towards the end of the film. Too much slapstick comedy too. I prefer a minion compared this film

Adam Sandler as the voice of Dracula is able to make us laugh with his made-up European accent. The voice in the film is reminiscent of the movie Grown Ups. The film also stars Selena Gomez as the voice of Mavis.

Although the story in this film is not so good, it has very impressive animation techniques. Dennis looks so adorable. It looks like the market for this movie is only for children and less can be enjoyed for adults

[REVIEW] Space Jam (1996)

In the 90's, Michael Jordan is the hero we all because of his basketball ability are phenomenal. Everyone in the world knows who Michael Jordan.

Synopsis:

Bugs Bunny etc threatened by a group of aliens to become attractions in Moron Mountain on their planet. Bugs Bunny challenge them to play basketball. But the aliens steal the NBA player's capabilities and make their bodies to be much larger than the Looney Tunes characters. Bugs then need the help of Michael Jordan so that they can win the game.

For children, this film is extraordinary. In addition to Michael Jordan factor, of course, because of the uniqueness of the Looney Tunes characters, which until now still favored by adults. I myself watch this movie because he wanted to see the funny behavior Bugs Bunny and his friends.

Obviously the film look is a combination of 2D animation with live action. Although made in the 90's with limited animation, the film can still be enjoyed in today. The humor of the Looney Tunes characters seemed intended not for children.

Space Jam is a basketball themed grossing movie of all time. Not only the film but also merchandise and OST I believe I can fly sung by R.Kelly. Surprisingly acting athlete Michael Jordan's size is not bad. He still biased acting with cartoon characters.

Watching this film reminds us back to childhood

[REVIEW] Inside Out

Pixar made again the animated film that’s very touching after a successful Toy Story 3.

Synopsis:

Riley, an 11-year-old child who was cheerful and loves to play hockey. Her whole life is controlled by five emotions that Joy, Sad, Fear, Anger and Disgust. Their job is to keep Riley stay happy. One day, Riley and his family had to move to San Francisco and everything becomes different. In Riley's head, Sad and Joy lost in Riley’s thought and they must return to Headquarters so Riley can back into a cheerful girl.

Ok first, do not to be late to the cinema because there is a short film titled lava. This movie-themed musical and very nice. Stories and songs worked perfectly. Okay finished with a short film, let's move on to the Inside Out

Okay, seen from the graphic, Hollywood animator is currently compete to present a realistic animation and Inside Out has done it successfully. Pixar’s name no doubt considering they had made Toy Story, Up, Wall-E, Monsters Inc., etc. (See the trailer of Inside Out). Pixar animation always develop their animation technology.

 

Inside out has a story that is fresh and different. I think the theme of Inside Out is slightly less suitable for small children because the theme is about a child's mind to be a teenager along with the conflicts that she experienced. This story may be more understandable for children over 13 years.

Pixar as previous films, can make us laugh, tense and also cry. As I have said, I cried watching this film as same as when watching Toy Story. Damn you Pixar!

I predict that this film will win the Oscar for best animated movie but too bad this film does not have OST such as Let It Go from Frozen

[REVIEW] Minions 2015

Starting from a small role in Despicable Me 1, to become a worldwide phenomenon, Minions. I am quite happy because the film aired in Indonesia quicker approximately one month from the date of the release should be.

Synopsis:

This film tells the origin of minions. The minion has lived since prehistoric era. They live clustered with the purpose to serve the evil boss. They have changed boss many times from T-rex, Dracula, until Napoleon. But they always make her boss have bad luck. Finally they isolate themselves in a snow cave. Because they doing nothing too long, they feel depressed and looking for a new boss. Minion that is gone is Kevin, Stuart and Bob. Finally they find a new boss named Scarlet Overkill (Sandra Bullock). They started a new adventure.

Before watching this movie, do not watch the trailer. Once again, do not watch the trailer. Especially the TV Spot. They have 3 trailers and all of them tell the main point of the story and humor that will be in the film. Indirectly, the trailer that had been revealed contains spoilers of the film. So, there are big chances if you watch this movie, you won’t laugh and instead just smiled. Humor majority contains pf slapstick comedy. It is very reasonable considering minion can’t speak human language.

The plot is not too special like Despicable Me series. The main point in this movie are humorous and very cute minion behavior. Ignore the plot, because the film is clearly for children that the story is not so complex. But do not worry, at the end of the film there will be a surprise.

I was very impressed with CGI animation technique in this film. Although the animated film, looks very real, for example, the hair on the head minion, clothes and leather gloves.

Minion is an entertaining movie, and can be enjoyed in all ages. This film is one of the great summer movies.

[REVIEW] Spongebob Movie : Sponge Out of Water

Children's movies have no limit. After 11 years since the first movie, spongebob is back again with the sequel plus  with a 3D live action

Synopsis: Krusty Krab, where SpongeBob works and are known for the Krabby Patty, have lost its secret formula. Mr. Crab accused plankton stole whereas the formula was gone by itself. Finally Spongebob and friends adventure to find the missing secret formula.

Do not expect too much from children's movie and adaptation from television series. The humor of the film is still the same as the cartoon series.

For storyline, it is still very simple because this movie basically is a children's movie. For the 3D scenes where Spongebob was out of the water, I think there are plus and minus sides. The plus side is the graph of a good 3D and looks very real. The minus side is the scenes are too much. What I mean by too much is a scene that is very absurd and too forced to be funny. Although those scenes are the climax of the story, I just saw some random scenes boring.

Actually, this film cannot to be missed for fans of Spongebob

[REVIEW] Shaun The Sheep The Movie

Maaa .... Maa .... Who doesn’t know that unique voice? Moreover, its catchy song It’s shaun the sheep .. it's Shaun the sheep. Yup! Shaun the Sheep, the popular TV series that aired on the Disney Channel eventually made into a movie.

Synopsis: Shaun and his friends are bored with their daily lives. Finally they decide that they want a vacation and 'get rid of' the farmer. But, because of an accident, the farmer even strayed into town and got amnesia. Furthermore, the movie told the advanture of Shaun and friends in town.

The Synopsis  is simple. To be honest, this is one of the best TV series that became a movie that I've ever seen after Spongebob in 2004. The storyline is simple and easy to follow. Of course, it is because the target audiences for this movie are children. Characteristic of Shaun and his friends that they are can communicate without dialogue still make us understand. This movie presented a very intelligent humor and a lot of satirical event such as the use of social media, celebrities etc. The adventure of Shaun is very exciting and a lot of suitable moral message is presented to children for example caring neighbor, grateful and so on.

For those of you who want to watch at the cinema might as well get ready for a lot of children who are so noisy while watching this movie. Please  understand and be patient. The film is worth to be watched anyway.

[REVIEW] Big Hero 6

This is the first time I review animation movie. I hope this movie win oscar in the Academy Awards as best animation. Although this film failed win a nomintation at BAFTA and Golden Globe.

Synopsis: Hiro, the smart & genius in making robots, lost his brother Tadashi -- which also makes the robot-- in a fire. Tadashi has made Doctor Robot named Baymax. Hiro who feel lost, together  with Baymax and Tadashi’s friends united into a group of superheroes to find who the mastermind behind the death of his brother.

The Synopsis sounds tragic right? But it doesn’t tragic like that. None of Disney movies end with traic ending. In the beginning of this movie, you will sad and maybe cry like a girl when Tadashi died. You will be depressed when Hiro saw the video when his brother was still alive and in the process of making Baymax. This film is a mix of family story full of emotion and comedy that will make us laugh. The funny thing in this movie is Baymax’s funny behavior and fat baymax that will make us want to hug him. Merchandise of Big Hero 6 is exploded in the market although is not explode like Frozen. Big Hero 6 is a film that can be enjoyed by adults and children. A lot of moral messages that can be captured in this movie. Impression after watching this movie is.... I WANT THAT CUTE BAYMAX!
