[REVIEW] Elysium

Elysium Poster.jpg
via : wikipedia
Matt Damon and Jodie Foster played together in the sci-fi movie. Pretty good

Synopsis:
In the year 2159, mankind is divided into 2. Rich and poor. Poor people living on earth with the bad conditions and dirty air while the rich lived in a luxurious space station called Elysium. Max (Matt Damon) one of the worker that got radiation at work. He wanted to go to Elysium to cure the illness even though it meant he had to commit a crime.

The premise of this movie is already used in many films like Hunger Games. This film remains unique mainly from his own poster we will wonder why Matt Damon into a robot. Although in this film a lot of terms science and tend rambling, this film can still be followed.

Matt Damon showed surprising physical changes. His head is bald and his body becomes good (not fat like in the informant). His Acting can be no doubt as well as Jodie Foster who has won Oscar two times. The disturbing thing in this film is Jodie Foster’s accent ... so unnatural. That's it.

This film has a lot of values such as caring and helping each other. Surely political story also complete the film. The film also closed with a great ending.

[REVIEW] SE7EN (1995)

Seven (movie) poster.jpg

In 1995, David Fincher the master of trailer makes the movie that are very stressful, starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman

Synopsis:
Detective William Somerset (Morgan Freeman) with the new detective, Detective David Millis to solve a murder case that inspired from the seven deadly sins in the Bible. Their searching have difficulty because the real killer is a genius and cautious

David Fincher is an expert in the thriller. He can built tense atmosphere perfectly. Typical David Fincher, the film has a dark lighting to add to the atmosphere gloomy. The victims described so terrible. When watching this film we are also invited to participate in solving the case.

David Fincher is also an expert for the twist ending and make the audience by surprise. It seems like almost every movie he always brings a surprising ending.

Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman’s acting is excellent as a pair of detectives. Brad Pitt's expression when the ending is remembered until now especially his quotes "WHAT'S IN THE BOX". Even the quotes that has become famous meme

Se7en is one of the best David Fincher’s movie. The storyline is fast, not too complicated and closed with a good ending.

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials

Maze-Runner-The-Scorch-Trials-Poster.jpg
via : wikipedia

Maze Runner The second installment is quite different from its predecessor

Synopsis:
After Thomas and his friends survived the maze, they were evacuated to safety place. But apparently they are still chased by organization WCKD. They must escape from WCKD that threaten their lives.
If in the previous Maze Runner, it’s quite boring with a slow pace, Scorch Trials will be a little different. At the beginning of the film, Scorch Trials’ paces are very quickly without pause, but when the film went into the middle, the flow was very slow and boring, and as it continues until the end of the movie. Perceived conflicts seem repetitive and less intense. A story of friendship between Thomas and his friends do not help this movie. Fortunately WCKD organizations discussed in detail in this film. Actually, the conflict in the new franchise Maze Runner was emphasized in this second film.

Oh yes, about Thomas, I might sound a bit biased but seriously, Thomas is the hero that most makes me upset. I don’t know why he was appointed as leader when he did not have planning, too emotional, and constantly questioning and that makes me upset. Yep, that's my opinion about Thomas
In this film, minor character such as Newt and Minho succeed steal scene. I even admit they are much cooler than Thomas as the main character

[REVIEW] The Man from U.N.C.L.E (2015)

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. poster.jpg
Via : wikipedia
In 2015 spy movie success to get the attention of movie lovers start from Kingsman, Spy and Spectre. The Man from Uncle also prove that spy movie is still fun to watch

Synopsis:
This film is set during the Cold War between America and Russia. CIA agent named Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill) must work together with Russian KGB agent named Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer) to prevent the very dangerous bomb for the safety of mankind.

Seen from the director of this film, which is Guy Ritchie, the film certainly will not disappointed. In accordance with the typical Guy Ritchie, lot of flashback back sound that good and other unique features. For more details, you may be able to watch his other movies like Sherlock Holmes. This film is also very fashionable and several times mentioned the clothing brand. It may sound less important, but for me this is one of the good points of this film.

The story of the film is quite light and not too heavy. Typical spy movie, there is always sophisticated gadgets and incredible action. This film slipped humor and make this movie fun to watch. Cold relationship between the United States and Russia are described clearly in this movie and it looks very funny when the America and Russia agent several times call each other nicknames like `communism 'and` cowboy'.

Chemistry between Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer is good as Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill in 21 jump street but with more serious and elegant version. They both can act and work together well  Henry Cavill succeed free from his role as Superman and became cool American Spy. Alicia Vikander who plays woman mechanic also steal the attention in this film. This Swedish actress is able to compete with Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer in the film.

The Man from UNCLE is an adaptation of the TV series with the same title. I think this film is one of the great spy movie and is very exciting. Possible rival of this film is Kingsman that aired in February 2015

[REVIEW] Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation

A graphic promotional film poster
via:wikipedia

Tom Cruise is back! Tom Cruise is The King of Action. He returned with the franchise of th best action movies

Synopsis:
Currently the Fund was disbanded and Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is  a fugitive CIA. There was dangerous organization called the Syndicate who do a lot of terrors in the world. Ethan reassemble his team to find Syndicate and rebuild the IMF.

Most people assume that the MI franchise are only about Tom Cruise’s amazing action. Actually, it was not entirely wrong because in Mission Impossible 1 to 3 they only centered on the character of Ethan Hunt. The fourth installment finally gives spotlight to character other than Ethan.

In The Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner succeed steal the scene from Tom Cruise. It is repeated in the fifth installment. Simon Pegg comeback as Benji, the funny British hacker and makes us look forward to his appearance. Rebecca Ferguson, Swedish actress pleyd as Ilsa, a double agent. Rebecca able to keep up with Tom Cruise with the action that is captivating and officially become a scene stealer in this film. Rebecca Ferguson is currently famous in worldwide because of this movie.

Like other spy movie, Mission Impossible priority are:
1. Exotic location
2. Sophisticated Gadget
3. Racing and shooting
4. The action which was tense (diving, climbing tall buildings, etc.)
5. Sexy woman

At the beginning of the film and in the trailer we were surprised by the scenes which Tom Cruise hanging on the plane that will board. Tom Cruise do the scene without a stuntman. Not only in planes, Tom Cruise also take action without a stuntman when he had to dive and hold his breath for 6 minutes. Tom Cruise totality for this movie should be appreciated.

[REVIEW] Ant-Man (2015)

Ant-Man poster.jpg
via:wikipedia
After struggling with the ongoing sequel that was released, finally Marvel released superhero movie that is fresh (after the Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014)

Synopsis:
Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is a thief. One day, he stole a suit from Hank Pym’s home (Michael Douglas) which can make him shrink like ants. Hank knows it, ask Scott for help to be Ant-Man to protecting Hank’s innovation from Darren Cross.

Initially I was a little hesitant with this superhero movie. Imagine, Iron Man can fire rockets, Thor can released lightning, but Ant-Man can. I do not have any expectations when going to watch this movie. Especially with the trailer that I think is quite ridiculous. With a body as small as ants, Ant-Man beat up ordinary people. In my opinion, Ant-Man is a superhero with the power that is quite ridiculous and far from the cool image of the members of the Avengers.

But this movie was very entertaining. Marvel as usual can present an exciting superhero action with a storyline that is mixed with comedy. The portion of comedy in this movie as much as the Guardian of the Galaxy. Humor in the film is mostly related to pop culture. Scott Lang as the character with the humor sense is similar to the Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy. They both have a eccentric character.

The typical Marvel films, of course there were clues related to other marvel movies like SHIELD, Hydra and the Avengers. The appearance of one of Marvel characters from other films (Spoiler Alert: The Falcon) make this film more exciting. Do not forget, there is a cameo of Stan Lee.
Paul Rudd who is famous in the comedy film plays a superhero with a soft side and is very fond of her daughter. Paul Rudd is the right choice because he can serve as a good father figure and a superhero with a sense of humor.

This is one film that I initially scoffed just by looking at the trailer, but after watching, I love it.

[REVIEW] Terminator Genisys (2015)

Terminator Genisys.JPG
via:wikipedia
Like I said, this is the year 2015 the return of a successful franchise. After Jurassic Park, Terminator now has been returned

Synopsis:
John Connor (Jason Clarke) sends Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) to protect his mother Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke). But Sarah Connor turns out differently than expected. She is not a coward and can survive. In fact she has Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) at her side. They must work together to complete the mission to protect the human future from the robot.

Actually I watch this movie without any expectation.  I only wanted to fill spare time with watching movies. After Terminator Salvation which I think is not good at all, the film is quite forgivable though the website rotten tomatoes gave a low rating.

Before watching this movie, you should watch terminator 1 and 2. Both films were connected with this film. Especially Terminator 1. Even though there are some explanations at the beginning of the film and in the middle of a movie about 'What is going on', it is only a short and quick dialogue making it quite confusing for those who have never watched the previous series.

For the CGI effects of T-1000, is quite disappointing and not much different from the Terminator 2 Judgment Day. Whereas there should be the development of technology in 2015. For another CGI scenes are good enough. The actor who played T-1000 is Lee Byunghun, senior actor from South Korea.

Chemistry between Emilia and Arnold are very nice. Emilia Clarke who is famous through Game of Throne series can play a role as Sarah Connor who is tough. The fans certainly are looking forward forTerminator Arnie, who became the mascot well as the main attraction of the film. His performance complete with his memorable catchphrase "I'll be back". Arnold’s appearance is as spoken in the movie "Old but not obsolete"

Terminator Genisys is to be made trilogy itself and not to follow the previous Terminator series. This film should be watched for those who are fond of this franchise.

[REVIEW] Jurassic World (2015)

Jurassic World poster.jpg
via:wikipedia
Our childhood memories are back! I don’t know what year is this. The upcoming movies are Jurassic World, Terminator, Star Wars, etc. What an amazing year!

Synopsis:
Jurassic Park re-opened to the public but with different names, Jurassic World. The park was very luxurious and got a lot of visitors. Scientists began to develop Indominus Rex, a great hybrid dinosaurs, dangerous and very smart. Conflict occurred when Indominus Rex escaped and began searching for prey.

The point of this film is ... dangerous dinosaurs are made – they got angry - escaped --- started to eat humans --- people running --- hero appeared --- all resolved with a happy ending. Standard dinosaur story and I think the story could not be developed anymore because first, this movie for all ages. Second, what do you want the Dino to do? Have inner conflicts in the human world? Or Dino version of Nolan?

For its CGI, I think it’s so ordinary. Nothing special. Maybe because we've seen the effect in other films such as Avenger, Godzilla, etc. Sometimes there are a few scenes with CGI that looks unreal. A bit disappointing for the long-awaited movie. This is the first Jurassic Park movie that does not use the robot. Steven Spielberg in 1993 even can do better. Until now, if we watch Jurassic Park, we will still amazed with Spielberg’s dinosaurs.

The performance of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are very good in this movie. For `human’s acting, I cannot say much because the main element of this film is a dinosaur. Bit unfortunate not entire arena Jurassic World is shown. Tips from me for watching this film and all the other summer movies, do not expect too high. Just watch and enjoy. Typical summer movies are popcorn movies.
In conclusion, this movie is not so disappointing for fans of the Jurassic Park franchise. The manuscript that has been built from 2005 already provides satisfaction for the fans. The film is also the nostalgic for childhood

[REVIEW] SPY

Spy2015 TeaserPoster.jpg
via:wikipedia

Yes, I know. Nowadays, action comedy movie is very mainstream. The movies with the same genre for example are 21 jump street, the other guys, and the heat. From the creator of The Heat, came back with an action comedy and again starring Melissa McCarthy

Synopsis:
Susan Cooper (Melissa McCarthy) is a CIA agent working behind the desk. She guides his partner Bradley Fine (Jude Law) who directly does the mission in the field. One day, Bradley failed in carrying out the mission and die. The whole identities of the agents are uncovered. Susan who was never directly involved in the mission must carry out the mission successfully.

Yup, there is Jason Statham in the movie. Yes, the action hero Jason Statham who is known for his macho image, played in the film comedy. Who would have thought that he can portray agent Rick Ford who is serious but often randomly raved and sloppy. Jason Statham is very incredible in this film. His role can make the audience laugh

Melissa McCarthy remained with her image as a rough, loud and funny. Eventually she returned the in a good movie after bad movie like Tammy in last year. Her character is not much different as the character in The Heat, often spoke rudely and cursed.

As I said, for the movie plot, that is probably quite standard. Someone without experience that directly involved in the mission suddenly must complete an important mission. But seriously, this movie is awesome. This movie may be the best comedy in 2015 ... so far. The unique things from this film are, from posters, such as a little sarcastic for James Bond movie. Opening scene of the film also made similar to the James Bond franchise. Although many joke about boobs and joke-like in another action comedy movie, the film is still fun to watch.

[REVIEW] The Interview

The Interview 2014 poster.jpg
via:wikipedia

At first, I did not have any expectations about this film. Yeah, I Know. Many of you are sick of the duo James Franco and Seth Rogen. Many people think that they are annoying. This time they were reunited in the controversial film.

Synopsis:
Dave Skylark (James Franco) is a well-known talk show host with his best friend, Aaron Rappaport (Seth Rogen) as producer. To make an innovation in the show, Aaron intended to interview Kim Jong-Un, dictator of North Korea. Their plans changed when the CIA asked them to kill Kim Jong Un. Carefully they tried to carry out their plans

The film was released in 2014 and many discussion about this movie. Sony pictures was hacked and threaten if the film is still released, there will be chaos in America. Finally the film is released limited in several theaters and online.

For the film itself, you would already know the comedy’s style of James Franco and Seth Rogen. Jokes about genitals, sex and something dirty. In my opinion, this film is better than this is the end. This film has a clearer and more interesting story.

I must admit, Seth Rogen was brave enough to make movies that offend North Korea. North Korea is quite sensitive about the issues of their country. Perhaps if the film is shown freely in theaters, the movie can achieve success financially. Regardless of all the controversy, for fans of comedy, the film is quite fun to watch

[REVIEW] The Avengers: Age of Ultron

Avengers Age of Ultron.jpg
via:wikipedia
The Awaited sequel is coming back. After fast and furious 7 which gain a huge success, this time avengers are coming back after 3 years, The Avengers: Age of Ultorn.

Synopsis: After New York, Avengers reassemble to look for loki’s scepter. After the stick is found, Tony Stark makes a robot named Ultron to maintain world peace. Unexpectedly, the robot was actually aimed at destroying the world

From 2014 to 2015, Marvel released many trailers and movie clips in various versions. For marvel fans, would have really enjoyed this movie. The action and comedy is very complete in this film. For cast, may not need to be discussed again. We already know that they are very representative for their superhero roles. This film got two new superheroes Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver, starring Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Their arrival made this film more exciting.

Some things are not same as the comics such as vision (new superhero) created by Tony Stark, not Ant-Man. Apparently, it is not a problem.

For non-marvel fan, the film can still be enjoyed. Although, actually not so many new things from this film. With the title of marvel superhero, this film certainly can gain a huge success. Perhaps beware of noisy child in the cinema. There are still many parents who think the entire superhero movie is a children's movie.

Every year, marvel always release superhero movies either the sequel or a new superhero. Even until the next few years, marvel has issued a schedule which movie will be released. This film can be regarded as the most successful marvel movie with a story that is developed. Not just action that destroys buildings

[REVIEW] Get Hard

Get Hard film poster.png

In this review, I Will Become may be too bias for Will Ferrell. Simply, it is because I love Him. Will Ferrell seems indeed an expert in making comedy films. With his experience at SNL, he was able to make a very funny movie. 2015, with Kevin Hart, he`s back to comedy genre

Synopsis: James King (Will Ferrell), a wealthy broker. One day he was accused of corrupted his customer’s money and will be punished for 10 years in prison. Frightened by a prison, he paid Darnell Lewis (Kevin Hart) to train him to face life in prison.

As usual, like other films, the comedy that shown contain elements of racial and Gay. Like in anchorman, many jokes about blacks and gay men. It looks like it is the formula of Will Ferrell movies. Racial and gay humors are always funny (honestly).

Chemistry between Will Ferrell with Kevin Hart is very nice. Both are very funny with all the stupidity that is done. It reminds me of Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in Rush Hour. However chemistry with Kevin Hart Will Ferrell cannot beat Will Ferrell with Mark Wahlberg in The Other Guys.

The story line may be not special at all. The main character was framed, the innocent and the culprit is the closest person. There is nothing special about it. Maybe in the next film Mr. Ferrell will be back with fresher and different story ideas

[REVIEW] Furious 7

Furious 7 poster.jpg
via:wikipedia
This year is the year for the return of the super successful franchise! As usual, the crowd flocked to queue at the cinema and about 1 week all the studio theater will be booked for this movie. Fast and furious is probably one of the franchises that in each series there is always improvement.

In 2013 we lost one of the great actors, Paul Walker in a car accident. His death was very influence in this Franchise because he is one of the main actors. Many people must be very curious how Paul Walker revived with many stuntmen and CGI

Synopsis: Continuing from fast and furious 6, Ian Shaw (Jason Statham) revenge on his brother Owen Shaw who had been defeated by Dom (Vin Diesel). Ian killed Han in Tokyo and hunt down Dom and his friends.

People say this is the best FF movie that ever made. In my opinion, for the story is not really special in entire FF movies. Action that appear quite thrilling.  Although sometimes appear pretty unreasonable (Cars fly, fly through buildings, etc.), but all of it is covered with a nice effect. The sceneries in this movie are very beautiful especially when it was shot in Dubai.

Humors in the film are also funny. Directed by James Wan, who is famous for his horror films, are surprisingly able to make this film (the action genre) great

The most excellent thing about this movie is that. OST See You Again sung by Wiz Khalifah Feat. Charlie Puth, is very suitable for atmosphere that full of emotion at the end of this movie. The song was also as a tribute to Paul Walker and the goodbye with his character, Brian O` Conner. For the FF fans absolutely will miss him

[REVIEW] The Departed

Departed234.jpg
via:wikipedia.com
Maybe this movie is the best and successful Hollywood movie adaptation. This movie won an Oscar as Best Picture and also got so many nominations in the many movie awards. The Departed is an adaptation from Hong Kong movie, Internal Affair, starring Andy Lau

Synopsis: South Boston cop Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) goes undercover to infiltrate the organization of gangland chief Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson). As Billy gains the mobster's trust, a career criminal named Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) infiltrates the police department and reports on its activities to his syndicate bosses. When both organizations learn they have a mole in their midst, Billy and Colin must figure out each other's identities to save their own lives.

From the premise, the story of this film tends to be slightly difficult. However, for its implementation, this film doesn’t give audience a headache. At the beginning of the film, we are presented with two people who practice in the police, but with a different fate. When the film reaches the conflict, we will feel the intense situation by `chase scene 'between police and mafia. Many scenes are very capable of bringing the audience follow tense. Especially when the transaction scenes that organized by mafias. At the end of the story, there will be a surprising twist.

This movie had a lot of actors who have very skillful acting. Matt Damon succeeds to portray criminals who act innocent and role in police department. Leonardo DiCaprio gave an excellence performance. He can portray the police with poor anger management at the same time very fragile. Jack Nicholson is able to portray the head of the mafia who intimidate.

In my opinion, a very high rating, nominations and awards are well deserved for this movie

[REVIEW] Kingsman Secret Service

via:wikipedia
What happened if Kick Ass meets James Bond? Well, you can see that in this movie. Seriously, you have to watch this movie. Especially for British Spy fan

Synopsis : Eggsy (Taron Egerton) a bad boy with broken home, recruited by Harry Hart (Collin Firth) to become Kingsman candidate, British spy. On selection process, an entrepreneur  Mr. Valentine (Samuel L Jackson) made a project  to control humans at his will.

In my opinion, this movie is awesome ! very very awesome. Many parts that made this movie awesome.
1.       British movie about spy. English spy always had its charm like James Bond.
2.       Funny jokes and very natural
3.       Stars everywhere  like Colin Firth, Samuel L Jackson, Sir Michael Caine, Mark Strong.
4.       Simple and interesting dialogue between characters.
5.       Simple story but not cheesy. Many scene made us laugh ate least smile.
6.       Blood and violence everywhere (I don;t know this is the good part or the bad part)
7.       The good soundtrack. Especially in last battle.
8.       Last but not the least, those awesome gadget !!! I want those gadget

So far, Kingsman is the best movie that I’ve watched in 2015. The success of  Kingsman not only based on critics review, but also in Box Office. Even though 50 Shades of Greys won over this movie (Well I think because the sale of 50 Shades of Grey novels, and moms want to see the movie adaptation). I’m proudly recommend this movie. REALLY !
